Fields Are Burning

This is a sneak peak first chapter to my upcoming novel of the same title. Although I've been an English teacher for a number of years, this my first time publishing my work. The story you see here is part of a larger piece--a marginally fictionalized account of the events of my family from generations past up to the present day. Anyone who comes from a dysfunctional family will appreciate and empathize with the characters in this book.
