Based on events surrounding the bombing of Monte Cassino Abbey in 1944 this is the memoir of Lt. Patricia Hampton who is brought over by the commander of the U.S. Army forces to photograph his march north to liberate Rome. Soon however, faced with the imminent unwarranted destruction of the most venerated Abbey in Europe, she must decide whether to passively chronicle it or actively prevent it.
