From Baron To Battler

The story of Dr CUD Schrader and his wife and family who migrated from Schleswig-Holstein to Australia in 1853. Included is a transcription of the diary of his son Ludwig written in 1873-74 when he was developing the farm at Walcha in New South Wales.
There is extensive information about Dr Schrader's ancestors and also his thirteen children with family trees for several generations. There are also photographs, Wills,letters and newspaper articles which give an idea of the struggles the family faced in their new country.
The book also contains a brief history of some of the places where the family lived, the rural community of Walcha, the gold diggings at Glen Morrison and the coal town of Wallsend.
