After the War, Northrop Hall becomes a Home for disabled soldiers. It is run by Dr Bramley, helped by his wife, Diana, who soon realises that he is more interested in his work than he is in her. But it is his work which brings about the chance meeting between Diana and Sebastian, who had loved each other before the war.
