Violet is a pessimistic paralyzed teenage misfit trying to discern her place in the world. Then she inherits her elemental gifts and discovers she is one of ten Chosen Ancient teens destined to battle to the death. In return for being able to walk and wield supernatural powers she is thrust into a war between good and evil in which the future of humankind hangs in the balance.
