Five Scalps: The Story of Edward Rose

Edward Rose, part Cherokee, Negro and white, grew up on the wharves of Louisville, Kentucky in the late 1700s. After a brutal bar fight where he received several scarring cuts to his face, Rose fled down river to New Orleans where he lived before heading for the Rocky Mountains. Rose was a hunter, fur trapper, and interpreter; he lived many years with the River Crow, who called him Five Scalps.
