As parents, we spend much of our time and effort teaching our children right from wrong through a consistent and grueling process of consequences and rewards. By the time they enter adulthood they should be able to understand this concept and apply it to the process of making responsible decisions, right?

But what happens when they fail to meet those expectations of responsibility? It is a huge challenge to effectively parent your adult child when they are no longer under under your care, custody and control. They now make their own decisions and your involvement is limited to addressing the situation when it is too late to avoid undesirable consequences through parental intervention.

Although this series is primarily for those parents who are currently struggling with the actions and consequences of their adult children on a regular basis, it will also provide valuable insight to those who are still raising their children to be independent, responsible adults.

The author is not a councilor, psychologist or any other form of accredited professional. She is simply a mother who understands what you are facing and wants to unite parents in an effort to support their children without supporting their behavior. Her goal is to entertain her readers as she confirms that they are not alone.
