Strain

Raised within a top secret military compound in the heart of America's desert, Blair Morand thinks that she is simply the abandoned daughter of the Helix Foundation's most reknowned scientist. A trouble-maker and a violent fighter, Blair is removed to the Dog Pound under the control of Doctor Cain, a Helix researcher who has mysterious ties to her absent father. Trained as one of Cain's Elites, Blair knows to be wary whenever she draws too much of his attention, but her loneliness dictates where her sense pleads caution. Slowly, she realizes that Cain's interest in her has a darker purpose, and must make a decision that will threaten both her very life, and the future of humanity.
