Ramona, unrecognized descendant of a California Native American icon, investigates the torture/murder of a priest and his lovely companion for her newspaper and gets drawn into an international, mythic quest to unravel a centuries-old mystery. Threatened at every step by sadistic pursuers, she must stay alive to lay bare her heritage and the masked power abuses the ancient treasure hides.
