To get away from an embarrassing situation in Langley, BC, Samantha Baker, the grand daughter of Elizabeth and James Friesen, has agreed to fix up and sell the old house Henry and Christina Henderson, parents of Elizabeth, built when they emigrated to Prairie View, Saskatchewan, shortly after World War I.
No trades' people will work for Sam in Prairie View. Strange things happen. Sam calls her new friend Kristi Parsons from Vancouver to come and help.
After Kristi arrives at the house she realizes where she is, and is overcome by the memories, and the evil that still lives in the house. She refuses to stay and moves to a motel in town.
Sam goes to the neighbor Mrs. Knutson, who tells her about the appalling things that Henry Henderson did that landed him in jail. Martha cohabits with her father Henry. Martha's daughter Amalie leaves while Henry is in jail, but returns when Amalie's husband dies and she and her young daughter Kristi have nowhere else to live.
After hearing the story, Sam takes Kristi back to her mother Martha who now lives in Kelowna, BC.
A few weeks after her visit to Prairie View, Kristi is found dead on the back porch of the old house in Saskatchewan.
Sam is arrested for murder but is released for lack of evidence.
Joel Dawdiak, A Canadian paratrooper stationed in Chilliwack, BC is called by Sam to help find out who murdered Kristi Parsons. Romance blooms between Sam and Joel.
Joel and Sam need to know who owns the house before it can be sold. Sam, posing as a 'blond bombshell' lures Realtor George F.W.Winston away from the office. George Winston's Real Estate office has been managing the old house. Joel breaks in through the women's bathroom window. He is caught by Eleanor McVeigh, but manages to slip past her. She calls the RCMP and a car chase ensues. Joel evades the law.
Sam returns to Langley. Elizabeth explains that Kristi is her cousin and tells her the history behind her dysfunctional family. How Heinrich and Christina Rosenberg came to Canada on the freighter S.S. Mattagama, and changed their names to Henry and Christina Henderson.
Sam returns to the farm house and finds the gristly evidence of two murdered baby boys.
She also find the money everyone has searched for.
The cursed house is finally demolished.
Sam and Joel make plans.
