To thwart her matchmakers, Annalee fakes an affair with a bush pilot whose photo appeared in a magazine about Alaskan bachelors. He stuns her by showing up in her California town and entices her to visit him. She falls for him and heeds the seductive call of Alaska but her romance is stymied when she learns a disturbing truth. She must find a whole new way of living in order to love again.
