This is a suspense novel with the elements of science fiction. The events take place in California. Criminal Police Lieutenant Peter Summers is at the end of his career, he investigates the bank robbery, which at the first glance, seems rather commonplace - a night guard commits theft, passes a large amounts of money to his accomplice, returns to his workplace and commits suicide.
