Mister Sprinklers :oR: Every Broken Animal Will be Lifted to Heaven is the third part of The Living Needle series. After all the scarecrows in the world wake simultaneously as part of an apocalyptic event, they become empty vessels most people dismiss as imitations of humans and reject, sometimes violently. Most scarecrows become sad sacks who wander the world aimlessly, but Mr. Sprinklers is different. He's kind and hopeful and wishes only to lift everyone he loves to heaven, or at least his concept of heaven. This is perhaps because he has Artemis, one of the few humans who accepts the scarecrows. However, Artemis is trying to settle into a stable, mature life, and she struggles with whether or not to keep this constant reminder of her childhood on the farm where everything tumbled down to bleakness and haunting loss. As Mr. Sprinklers learns what being human means from those around him, he yearns for connection with Artemis who just may be the one to save this world from the apocalypse of which the scarecrow resurrection is the most prominent sign.
