The Count of Samerand is investigating the disappearance of young William Bathurst, the son of a duke. At the same time Inspector James Wright is investigating the murder of a man with the same description as the young man. The victim is found in the slums of London, if it is the same man what was he doing in such a place dressed so humbly, and can the count find the truth.
