Hatebe was the center of her tribe, the child of a god and venerated as the one person that could speak on behalf of the ancestors of her land. But when a group of alien people come from across the ocean and invade the coastal lands of sixteenth century Costa Rica, Hatebe will learn that the path that one thinks they will take is not always the path that is meant for them.
