Adventurers aid an aging bard discover what went wrong on a mission seven years ago that cost the lives of his former comrades and assisted a clever queen in her 'conquest' of his homeland. The challenge is complicated by betrayal from within, the death of nearly everyone who might have held the bard's answers, and the pending slaughter of the most worthy warriors of the realm.
