A young German soldier experiences the bombing of Hamburg. Two years later, he and his wife are forced to flee Germany. She dies, and he is thrown into a brothel in Argentina as its pimp. There he struggles to find an acceptable identity; but he sometimes thwarts himself by being both good and bad. Author's comment: This story is--regrettably--loosely based on horrifying facts.
