I grew up in Texas on the Louisiana border. The culture in my small town fluctuated from Daughters of the American Revolution types to Duck Dynasty wannabees. A never-ending cast of characters flourished and I had connections on both sides. My family was south of crazy as a Betsy bug, and way east of eccentric. Mama's attempts to fit in usually resulted in illogical or bizarre or irrational behavior and often all three at once. I had to learn to adapt, rise above and on occasion hide.
