Involved in the early 1900's migration of French Canadians to an area of Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, the characters battle themselves and the elements in the quest for the golden harvest of riches. The thrust of bumper crops and droughts, accidental deaths, and the dreams that brought them to this land collide and reconstruct themselves and their lives. Lust for wealth trumps relationships.
