NYPD homicide detective Paula Eichler journeys to Gosnold Island for an extended vacation. A recent tragedy in her life has left her close to a mental breakdown, and her family says that Gosnold is the perfect place to relax. There she meets Alan Mayhew, owner of the B&B she's staying in, and they slowly become friends. When Alan's uncle is murdered with a harpoon, the first murder in the island's history, she's asked to help with the investigation. Almost immediately, Alan becomes a suspect, and Paula must sift through the clues and "red herrings" to figure out if Alan is guilty or not. When a second murder strikes the island, she beings to wonder: Is a vast conspiracy at work, or is one person trying to manipulate the truth?
