Conventions of (American) English

This textbook focuses on linguistics. It's the first in a series of four language-arts textbooks and is intended for students who may wish to review syntax, usage, spelling and mechanics. I share the view that languages are human inventions; but I also recognize that each culture must maintain linguistic standards which create a common bond among its members. Understanding leads to group harmony.
