The Harrowing is a love story as well as a science fiction/fantasy meld. The Nan are a winged people who live on tall stone pillars rising from their sea. Crash-landing, the aliens must gain a foothold. Their solution is that the strongest beings will win. Fane, the greatest of the Nan fails to trap one of the attackers. Can Leery, Fane's lover, nanny-guy and brood-father save his people?
