Elena left the dark Realm of Shadows because of a decree set forth by the governor, Countess Domnina. The order prohibits Elena and her true love, the vampire Decio, to ever be together. The rules set forth by the countess are never to be questioned, and never have been—until now. Elena has grown into a defiant young woman over the years and has decided she will no longer suffer the pain of living without her soul mate.
