In the dying days of the Roman republic, Marcus drops a coin on the ramparts of a hill fort in south west Britannia. Why is he there 80 years before Britannia is invaded by the troops of the Emperor Claudius? In 1966 the coin is found by Lynette, volunteering on a dig in her summer holidays. The coin could rewrite the history of Britain but, for Lynette, it holds memories she’d rather forget.
