It's 1989 in small-town Southern California. On her therapist's couch, Emma Hazelton learns to understand her life experiences, while at work and at play she and Guillermo Guerrero discover their love for each other. Around them, friends and neighbors racked by gang violence and tragedy, unite to bring peace back to the streets of San Benitez and La Coloma.
