Judith and Alice are childhood friends at school in the Yorkshire Dales but when Judith leaves to have a career in London and Alice stays at home to help on the farm it seems that they have nothing in common. But when disaster strikes they are able to help each other in a way that nobody else can, the bonds of old friendship proving stronger than a difference in life styles.
