The Girl in the Blue Shoes

Upon returning to his old home town for a pleasant day out, a former Oxford college professor by chance encounters a strange girl walking the streets of his beloved city. When a second encounter with The Girl in the Blue Shoes takes place in identical circumstances as the first, he confronts the the girl and she tells him of her involvement in an underground program that involves moving into a singular Otherworld that is recreated each time a crossing is effected, and that the person he first saw was not in fact the real her but a cosmically manufactured copy of herself created during the stepping into this Otherworld.
