First are the serfs of Downdale, scratching a bare existence from land they will never be allowed to own. Second, sailing across the North Sea, are the bloody-handed Vikings who take what they want. Third are the Sidhe Fae, whose long lives lead them to view humans as pets - at best. And then there are the great trees with enormous - and mutually exclusive - value to each of the three.
