Cayla had always expected to be a priestess when she came of age, but it turned out that she didn’t have the aptitude for it. In more prosperous times the leaders of the religious order that had taken her in as a child might have simply expelled her and been done with it, but gold was far too precious at the moment. Instead of kicking her out, they sold her to a brothel to recoup their losses.
