The 1950s live on at The Oasis, a drive-in restaurant in Southern California. Five children growing up in the ’70s and ’80s recapture the lost days of leather-jacketed teens racing their souped-up cars on the nearby quarter-mile. Led by Runaway, they form a car club "The Shakers." Soon they are up to their hubcaps in competition that starts out friendly, but soon detours into the danger zone.
