Saram becomes trapped in the role of the spiritual teacher, denying various aspects of his childlike and rebellious personas. These seek expression and satisfaction causing him to act against his own code of ethics and suffer rejection from those around him. This forces him to look inward, acknowledge and reconcile his conflicting selves.
