Good-girl nurse Annabel Webster comes to San Francisco for a dinner date with her boyfriend. They stop for a quick romp at a club, where she encounters Dr. Thornton Silver, a globe-trotting playboy with a reputation for fast living and dangerous appetites. Jealous of the chemistry between them, her boyfriend Stephen abruptly abandons her there. At that moment, a massive earthquake strikes, destroying their building, and Annabel finds herself with no option but to rely on Thornton to navigate the disaster-ravaged city. Horrified by Thornton’s calculating determination and bizarre proclivities, Annabel reluctantly follows him back to his hotel, where she succumbs to the temptations of her own desire to delve into his world of ecstasy and domination.
