Set in a Scottish mining village in the early nineteen fifties where life was still much as it had been before the war. Where the miner's woman folk still used the back green wash houses and everyone knew their neighbours. Where life was often hard but friends plentiful, there came a day when things changed and the village was never quite the same again.
