When Jake wakes up, he expects the day to be just like every other day, ordinary. So when his crush asks him to help her get out of a dangerous situation, he isn't expecting the danger to include hiding from dangerous people, explosions, and being face to face with the barrel of a gun. Fearing for their lives makes him realize he must share his feelings for her, if they can make it through alive.
