Lucian Kane is a Cherokee Skin-walking Wolf; he is the guardian of Raven Drhiti, a normal eighteen year old. The two have been mated by the Spirit Gods and the Fates in an unheard of way. Book three of the Trilogy explores their relationship further as they solve the issues of being so different and become one by converting Raven to a Skin-walker, go through the Bonding Ceremony and Marrieage

The Chief leaned forward and placed his glass on the table. He looked towards his Son and spoke “Raven seems to be a little on edge this evening. Is she alright? Are the two of you well?”
Lucian responded without moving, “She is anxious. It is me that suggested moving the wedding up. I’m afraid I have added more to her already overwhelming life by doing so. She is also trying to be brave. I have agreed to convert her and have allowed her to take the first blood from me. She knows my fears and is trying to sooth me with her actions.” Lucian leaned forward and set his glass on the table. He stood up and walked towards the fireplace where he stood with his hands in his front pockets staring into the fire.
The Chief stood up, walked to the right of his Son and placed his left hand on Lucian’s left shoulder. He spoke to him by saying “She is right to try to put your fears to rest. She will come through this. Raven is strong, determined, she wants what is best for you. Whether or not you can accept it, the best thing for you is for her to become Wah-’ya. This is a necessary thing to happen. Your path with Raven has been written by the Spirit Gods and The Fates. You must not fight it, thus allowing it to unfold as it is meant to be. You will not lose her.”
Lucian looked over at his Father with a great amount of respect showing in his eyes and face and simply nodded. He knew that there was no point in disputing anything with the Chief. He had infinite wisdom that was shared with his E-'tsi, Lucian’s E-’li-si. Together they were powerful. Their relationship with the Spirit Gods was never to be questioned.
