In 1943, Buck Remke, B-17 tail gunner, annihilates Nazi aircraft over Germany. Months go by, and he tires from the stench of death. When Buck seeks relief in a London cabaret, he meets exotic singer, Ilona Laszlo. For a time, they find love in each other's arms. However, war and duty, push Buck deeper into the bowels of European conflict. He leaves Ilona - pregnant, alone and without a career.
