We live and minister in a church age that doesn’t tolerate mediocrity well. A church that isn’t growing - that isn’t actively seeking the lost - is a church that may soon have a new Pastor.

I’ve written his book to help you understand that it may not be your Pastor’s fault.

A new Pastor will simply give you the ‘feel’ of something happening or changing. A new Pastor will put hope in place of complacency. A new Pastor will give your church the honeymoon period that everyone loves so much but it won’t solve the growth problem your church has.

Witness the nationwide turnover of Pastors about every two years. Even in churches that know this pattern is unhealthy - Pastors come and go at about that same rate.

And consider the Pastor who does manage to stay ten or fifteen years - he is either in a growing dynamic church, in which case you are probably not reading this ebook - or he, the elders and the church members have simply decided that this is the best we can do.

Part of the reason we have so many churches that are not growing is that we have not understood all of the tools available to the church to reach into our community.

We go to conferences and learn the newest exciting thing that churches are doing to facilitate growth. We may even come home charged up and ready to implement.

And after the letdown of it not working in our church, we find ourselves wondering what is wrong with us - or the community - or the guy who taught it to us. Year after year we repeat the process.
