Hana Johal is an English immigrant who, despite the tragic death of her husband, has managed to make a life for herself and her children in the city of Hamilton, New Zealand. It seems that finally, the forty-four year old redhead can settle down and try to discover what she actually wants for herself out of life, now that the reality of child rearing is finally over and her son and daughter are off pursuing their own interests. The last thing she expected, was to feel lonely or unfulfilled. The attractive new Head of English at the expensive private boys' school catches her eye at the start of term, invoking a powerful feeling of deja vu. Then a simple crime committed against her seemingly randomly, quickly becomes something far more sinister. Someone is following Hana, convinced that she has something that belongs to them and the threats become increasingly frightening. Hana will need to draw on all of her friendships, old and new, in order to resolve the crime spree against her. Just as she begins to feel safe with the only man she has trusted since her late husband, someone from his past returns to make life difficult for them both. And what is it about this man that feels so surreal? Hana discovers that she met him once before, on a London tube train - on the very worst day of her life. This is part one of the series.
