In Brisbane, Queenslander Kate Anderson, 34, drops her two youngsters at school before a routine visit to Lisa, an emergency housing client. Kate has rebuilt her life after divorce and enjoys her work supporting disadvantaged people. She finds Lisa and her children brutally murdered, an event which changes her life. She turns to her close-knit family for support and meets Jack, a solicitor, gratefully accepting his help as the horrors threaten to engulf her.
