In the outskirts of London in 1606, a witch hunt is underway. The tyrannical King Edmund has ordered the capture of the so-called Candle Witch, an unidentified woman who assists in the deaths of those who are terminally ill. When Sage Reed is caught with a vial of toxic leaves and a dead woman in her home, King Edmund is convinced he has found his witch. Without a way to prove her innocence, Sage is arrested and thrown among the wretched prisoners of Oxart Prison. Survival, not only for her, but for her younger brother and sister is at stake if she cannot prove her innocence. On the way to a stunning conclusion, Sage enlists the help of an unlikely ally and makes a deal with the queen, as her strength and character are tested in the days ahead, each one leading closer to her beheading. Although the true identity of the Candle Witch is ultimately revealed, the unchallengeable king is determined to rid his kingdom of witches, and the truth may not be enough to save Sage’s life.
