The Love Diaries: Background Details 4 First Impressions

This is the fifth part of this series. Here I will attempt to detail for you my first impressions of my flatmate D, and all the reasons why I disliked him on first meeting him.

Firstly, he was the one to actually open the door to me when I first moved in, before I got my keys. Back in those days he had long blond hair. On that particular day he was wearing a white singlet which adequately displayed his pumped up chest. I distinctly remember that the very first thing I thought about him was "Hmm, cute!". I explained that I was the new flatmate. At this he said nothing at all. He merely turned away and went back up the stairs...
As a result of that first incident, I actually thought he could not speak English. I continued to think this about him for a very long time, as he would just walk around, silently, in and out of the kitchen, saying nothing, giving no greeting whatsoever. I have since found out that he does of course speak English – and very well, as it happens.
