Isobel and the Mammoths

When young Sobel is sent as a sacrifice to a volcano, she must use her story-telling skills to soothe the restless Mammoths inside the mountain.

In this stand alone short story, Loshbaugh introduces readers to the heroine of the forthcoming Isobel the Bear-Eater series and the rich world she inhabits. Weaving elements of Siberian and Alaskan mythology into her own imagination, Loshbaugh adds depth to a simple tale.

Bonnie Loshbaugh has lived in Alaska, Siberia, Finland and China. She practices kung fu and has studied upwards of 10 languages. She draws inspiration from music and folk tales and writes to make a literary space for Northern cultures. She currently lives in Seattle, where she misses snow in winter, but appreciates the proximity of coffee shops and a large university library.
