It's an ancient tradition among the Christians, especially in Catholic and Anglican domains, to celebrate the Stations of the Cross, also Way of the Cross or simply The Cross especially in the Holy Week and Good Friday.

If You search in the internet for these terms (Google, Wikipedia etc.), You'll read that there are some differences within this celebrations. In this ebook a Stations of the Cross with 14 stations is shown. You'll see all the 14 pictures as shown in Vilshofen, separated, with the descriptions of the scenes in English, French and German. The description at the plates is in an old-fashioned German.

In 1747 this Stations of the Cross was consecrated and renovated in 1884. The pictures are made of cast iron and painted colorful. At 13 stations the plates are put in shrine like masoned columns. The plate of the 14th station is in a niche close to one of the 3 churches on the hill.

Vilshofen is about 20 km to the south of Amberg in the Oberpfalz a district of Bavaria in Germany (An easy map is included) and about 6 km south of Ensdorf (see Book 1 of this series).
