Though not intended to be a work of erotica, this story about a multi-talented young woman chronicles her battles at keeping her relationships with her students as professional as possible. Helen, a young musician is tortured by her sexuality and her passionate lesbian affairs that strain her relationships with her closest friends and lovers. At last, she thinks she has found someone who can accept her as she is: the famous movie star, Marsha Moore. Helen is persuaded to work at a summer Ballet Camp for girls in the French Alps. Did I mention Helen is also a brilliant dancer?

The wrinkle is that this particular annual ballet camp allows the campers to have sex. The camp leaders, however, are unhappy that the sex has become more important than the dancing. Calling herself Tiffany, our Helen falls in love with the camp, the environs, the leaders, and the girls. The older girls want to sleep with Tiffany, but Tiffany is more interested in teaching them to dance. In a story filled with love of dance, love of music, and Tiffany's concern for the well-being of her young charges, we follow her passionate path through an eventful couple of weeks.

The first interesting escapade is when Tiffany is conscripted to escort a vanful of the young ballerinas to a concert in Brussels featuring none other than the elusive Helen Nordstrom herself. Some of the girls can hardly wait to introduce Tiffany to the famous violinist. Somehow Tiffany manages the transformation into the glamorous Helen and back, with her charges being none the wiser.

The story also chronicles the sexual awakening of one of the young dancers, Cara Campbell, who appears to be borderline autistic. While Cara puzzles over her discovery of sex, another young woman, Dena, patiently gives Cara warmth, caring and affection, and teaches her to love. In the end, each of them learns to be content with their limitations.

The camp ends with a dance recital at which the chief guest is none other than Marsha Moore. But just before Marsha arrives, Jessica Lawrence, the beautiful camp director, falls passionately in love with Tiffany. Meanwhile, some of the older girls want to present a nude ballet, and Jessica Lawrence and Tiffany are torn between squelching the crazy idea, and allowing Cara and Dena to dance their pas de deux in the nude.
