This four-part essay takes a look at broad movements that have taken hold in much of the world, and which bode well for humanity's future. Two of them are well-known: The emergence of the global village, and the push for equal rights and freedoms for all. Another is familiar, although the exact relationship to survival issues for humanity might not be immediately apparent: The emotional health of individuals. Finally, and crucially, there is a great repressed demand in the electoral democracies for improvements to the system via direct democracy methods
It is my contention that the world is a better place than it was fifty years ago, and I also believe that improvement can, and almost certainly will, continue into the future.
I invite the reader to consider my vantage points, and challenge people to come up with even better fundamental solutions to our dilemmas. It takes the minds of many to solve the problems that afflict the many - and that is why authoritarianism will end up on the scrap heap of civilization.
