You couldn’t afford to take chances out on the hills alone. Especially in the snow and especially if you had a dog to look out for too – and not your dog at that. You had to be well prepared and you didn’t want to end up panicking and rushing because you were short of time. That was what led people to making mistakes and getting themselves into trouble.
