The Waste

The short tale of old merchant Omam of the Al-Hadak empire who arrives at the village of Kashet to find it has disappeared from the desert sands. The only remains of Kashet and its people are a single twisted body, and the strange, fresh flower it was clutching in its dead hand. It is unlike anything Omam has ever seen, and a voice inside tells him he cannot leave it behind. He heads for the walled city of Jalareen feeling haunted and afraid. When he arrives, the city is restless with tales of a bright red star falling out of the sky…
