"a style reminiscent of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s magical realism" - Red City Review
Time Travel to the Age of Alchemy..
Roland’s longtime girlfriend Liz puts their sex life on hold hoping for a commitment. While the indecisive grad student Roland waffles he is drawn out of his comfy little rut by a chance meeting with damsel in distress, the tempting, rich but bratty Lila, who involves him in her $450,000 heist and a sexy treat for his reward. Roland quickly feels remorse for his unfaithfulness and begins to examine who he is and what he is doing with his life.
Cheating on Liz and self-doubt aren’t his only problems. Lately he has been having vivid dreams and what he thinks are hallucinations. The vivid dreams and hallucinations are really a flickering view into Renaissance Italy and to the stage being set by the characters whose decisions and actions will offer Roland a chance to find his purpose, redemption and enlightenment.
After their breakup, Roland wishes he would have done things differently. The Cosmos hears and from the moment Liz walks out he embarks on a journey that leads him to the Alchemist Cabinet, a portal that opens a door to the past. Roland finds himself in the year 1520 in Bavaria. He has no memory of his former life except for a hint or a glimpse of something here or there that seem familiar.
His new life puts him into eerily familiar situations. Will Roland fall prey to the same temptations or accept the Alchemist Gift and become the man he was meant to be?
