This book is the story of a girl who lived through the Salvadoran Civil War and her parent's separation. She did not ask questions about the war or about the reason for her parents going different ways, but when she grew up she found much support at church, her neighborhood, and in friends and family. Dixie Marroquin was born in El Salvador and grew up in Washington, DC. She started writing about her life to apply for scholarships for school and now she writes for fun, to share her faith and about her adventures traveling abroad.

Her favorite sport growing up was Lacrosse. Dixie did her undergraduate studies at American University in Washington, DC and was an intern at the White House under the George W. Bush administration. She enjoys story telling and listening to other people's life stories.
