Life on the streets of the big city is a continuous battle for survival. For some people, it is the only way of making a living. We follow the lives of two middle-aged women friends, Lebo and Dimpho, successful street traders. Their shop comprises up-turned wooden boxes on which their goods for sale are displayed. Their territory is a few meters of pavement which they jealously guard. The community of street vendors come from all over the African continent. Some are there illegally. Some are involved in criminal activities. Lebo and Dimpho have to cope with summer storms, corrupt policemen, gangsters and harassment by the city council. The two have been working on the streets for many years and have become fast friends. Nevertheless, as experienced as they may be, there are still lessons to be learned such as “purchaser beware”. But, they discover that the biggest lesson of all is having a powerful friend whom they can rely on when the going gets tough.
